One of the best reasons to go to Krabi is that it’s less densely populated than other similar destinations in Thailand. It features breathtaking scenery and gorgeous beaches just like in other parts of the country, but generally speaking, the province draws fewer tourists than say Phuket, for instance.
However, this might not seem to be the case for some people, as a growing number of visitors are realizing what Krabi has in store and thus, are flocking to the area. There is good news, though. Krabi encompasses a pretty large geographic area, and there are many places in the province where you can still get away from the crowds.

1. Nong Thale
Nong Thale is less developed than other places in Krabi like Ao Nang and Krabi Town but still provides you with everything you need to enjoy what Krabi has to offer. The virgin beaches of Klong Muang and Ka Lao La Ding are beautiful, and there is enough variety in terms of attractions and activities to be enjoyed. You can go shopping through lanes of vendors at flea markets, rejuvenate your body and mind at a local spa, or just spend a day of leisure riding around town on a rented bike.
2. Ko Lanta
As its own island, Ko Lanta is much like Phuket in that there is a myriad of things to do and places to visit when you find yourself there. There are several beaches in the area, but a few secret spots along the shore are definitely worth keeping an eye out for. You can spend your time in the water or explore what hidden gems the local town hides, and you’ll find that there is still plenty left to do on the island. Day trips, yoga and cooking classes, island hopping tours—these are just some examples of what there is to look forward to.
3. Ko Jum
Relatively underdeveloped but nonetheless worth visiting, Ko Jum showcases what Thailand’s most popular tourist places might’ve looked like several decades ago. The views on the island are spectacular, and the island itself is pretty accessible. Be warned, however: There isn’t much of a town to speak of, and the main area is more like a collection of small establishments that cater to the surrounding community. If you’re looking for a taste of real island life, Ko Jum just might be the place for you.

There are many other places in Krabi that are undoubtedly beautiful, but some of them aren’t yet suitable for spending a vacation in as there simply isn’t enough infrastructure to sustain tourism.
